Dewey Edward Wells (1925 – 2004)

Services for Dewey Edward Wells, Jr., 79, of Ralls will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at the Ralls First Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Haddock, the Rev. Larry Carson and the Rev. Ken Bevel officiating. Burial will be in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls He died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at Southwest Regional Medical Complex in Lubbock.

Dewey was born Sept. 1, 1925 in Kansas City, Mo. to Dewey Edward, Sr. and Betty Mae (Chron) Wells. On April 23, 1946, he married Margie Rea Moore in Little Rock, Ark. She died July 29, 2004. He was a graduate of Ralls High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Texas Tech University. He was a member and a deacon of the Ralls First Baptist Church. Dewey was a member of Emma Lodge No. 931, where he was a 32nd degree Mason and Past Master, the Ralls Order of the Eastern Star, where he was a Past Patron, and the order of the Shrine. He was a charter member of both the Ralls Lions Club and the Ralls Jaycees.

Dewey served on the Crosby County Fuel Board, the PCA board of directors for 30 years, and the Ralls Co-op Gin Board. Mr. Wells was honored as the Ralls Chamber of Commerce Citizen Through the Years in 1994, and he and his wife were named “Mr. and Mrs. Cotton Boll in 2000. He was the first person to be recognized as Outstanding Alumni of the Ralls High School Agriculture Dept. in 1981. He is also preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Lynn Wells, July 10, 1990.

Survivors include a son, Wayne Wells of Plano; a daughter, Sharon Bostick of Brownwood; a brother, Elmer Wells of Ralls; four grandchildren, Mike Bostick of Lubbock, Don Bostick and his wife, Stephanie, of Brownwood, Lisa Meacham and her husband, Justin, of Tulsa, Okla., and Alex Wells of Dallas; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Dustin Bostick of Brownwood.
